Who we are and what we do
Lumenamint was established in Halifax in 2017 by a photographer who had grown tired of the industry's tendency toward volume over quality — studios taking every booking, racing through sessions, and delivering galleries padded with near-duplicates. The studio operates as a small, focused practice: one lead photographer, one assistant for larger productions, and a clear limit on the number of commissions accepted each season. That constraint is deliberate. It means that every client — whether booking a single portrait session or a full-day wedding — receives the same level of preparation, attention, and post-production care. We work across four disciplines: wedding photography, portrait sittings, commercial commissions, and event coverage. In each area, the approach is the same: research the location, understand the brief, arrive prepared, and edit with restraint. Our visual signature is an amber-gold editorial grade — warm without being sentimental, clean without being clinical — applied consistently across all delivered work so that images from a corporate conference and a seaside wedding share the same considered palette.
Who we serve and how the work is done
Our clients are primarily businesses and individuals in Halifax and across Nova Scotia, though we accept commercial and event commissions from across Atlantic Canada when the project warrants travel. We do not pursue destination wedding bookings as a primary offering, and we are honest about the limits of what outdoor photography can promise when Nova Scotia weather is involved. Over seven years and more than 230 completed commissions, the pattern that defines our best work is straightforward: clients who share information before the session get better images than clients who do not. For that reason, every new enquiry begins with a brief questionnaire — not to add process for its own sake, but because the answers shape the preparation that determines the outcome. We do not offer same-day turnaround, rush edits as a standard service, or printed albums produced in-house. What we offer is a deliberate, honest, and well-executed photographic record — made in Halifax, delivered on time, and built to last.
